WOO HOO, City Sampler Starter Kit!!

I’ve had my eye on the Tula Pink’s City Sampler Starter Kit since she released it, but it’s pricey.  To be completely honest, everything at the site is pricey, BUT they’ve got things you won’t find anywhere else and you pay a premium for it.  I think it’s sweet that her Mom runs the site.  On Memorial Day, I Heart Tula Pink graciously offered a very nice sale on everything in the shop.  I JUMPED at the City Sampler Start Kit: 32 fat eighths of Tula Pink fabrics.  It came TODAY!  The post man pulled up in his truck and I met him at his window.  We were both pretty excited; me because I knew it was my fabric, and he because it was his last delivery of the day!  🙂

Pictures are misleading, and based on the picture on the site, I expected to get fabrics that were more of complete color spectrum.  What I got was an interesting mix of with lots of corals, olives, teals, and lilacs.  WIN!  And here’s why… I already have a small stash of many of the Birds & the Bees fabrics (which where prominently featured in the promo picture) which are great for the standard colors but many of these fabrics came from Salt Water and Parisville which fill in some of the color spectrum gaps.  (Not that I would have been disappointed to get a bunch more of the Birds & the Bees fabrics because it’s one of my favorite collections!)  There was also some Prince Charming, Birds & the Bees, Nightshade, and Plume mixed in, too!  I really got a nice selection.  Now, this isn’t enough to make the City Sampler quilt, but it’s called a starter kit for a reason and it really helps me fill in the shades between the reds, yellows, and blues.  And I mean, really, can you get enough Tula Pink fabric?  🙂

Sadly, I don’t have the book Tula Pink’s City Sampler: 100 Modern Quilt Blocks yet but… soon!  In the meantime, I’m happily working on my Dream Weaver quilt.
