Cast of Characters

The Two Quilts and a Chicken story is simple and the blogging is about whatever is on my mind at the time.  I tried to maintain a subject-specific blog, but that didn’t work out for me.  I just don’t live that way.  I try to edit myself to keep this family- and church-lady friendly, but who the [bleep] am I kidding?  Keeping it safe for work is the best I’m going to be able to manage on a good day.

In 2010, I came home one day and was just DONE.  I announced, “We’re moving” as I walked through the door.  He didn’t want to be there either.  We radically changed our lives when we moved from my Florida to his New Hampshire.  I’d never seen snow… we got 100+ inches of it our first winter.  Turns out, I like the snow.  I pretty much lucked out there.  We live in an old farmhouse built in 17-something in rural New Hampshire.  That means one thing: bats.  Jesus.  Long story short, I’m 1300 miles away from home and living in a foreign land.  With bats.

Jacob Rutherford

I have a thousand photos of Jake, but this is one of my favorites. He is always right by my side.  Jake loves to run, play, swim, watch planes land at Pease, and eat.  He really makes the most of life every single day.

 

Marilyn Holly

Holly is is the sweetest girl in the whole world. She really is the best of us. She was raised in the pound and that made her batshit crazy but I love her so much.

 

Stuart Augustus

Stu was the perfect find at the NHSPCA cat room. He loves everyone.  He is carefree, and fun-loving. He is also passed out drunk on the couch every night by 8.

 

Agatha Margaret

Agatha was in the shelter for eight months before we sprung her. Something about her attacking people.  She is a drama queen. Stu is in love with her. The rest of us are scared of her.

 

In Memoriam… The World’s Greatest Cat

The World’s Greatest Cat passed on April 28, 2014, at 17 years of age.  He was alternately the most loving creature and the biggest jerk in the world. He was also constantly jealous of everyone else. In his mind, he was here first. He did exactly as he pleased at all times.  After 15 years together, it is surreal to write of him in the past tense.

 

In Memoriam… Lucas Meriwether Beauregard

Luke was the gentlest soul I have ever met, and I miss him desperately every day.  We lost him to cancer on November 9, 2015.  A rescue, he was around 11 years of age.  I usually cleaned him up for photos, but I always loved this one: the Bloodhound in his natural state of slobber. 🙂
